Case Studies: Call Centre Goes Live With i-BOX

Objective: To improve the security of the Datacentre/Cabinet and provide accurate information on who entered cabinets and the environmental conditions within.

Product: i-PAL & i-BOX Solution: - The client has a number of datacentres, which are spread across the UK. Each datacentre has a number of communication rooms and stand-alone cabinets. Each site has different levels of security ranging from door access to video surveillance. A full review of the objective took place with the client and it was decided to deploy the Cooper B-Line i-BOX solution.

The client required a system that allowed real time indication of door entry whilst capturing video footage of the event. Recorded events can be recalled at a later date for review. The large number of sites and communication rooms required an IP based network solution, monitored from their Leeds headquarters.

Card and key fobs would be allocated by the system administrator and critical alarm events would be sent in real time via e-mail/SMS. Where unscheduled work is required without authorised card entry, remote access can be initiated from within the software.

The administrator would require the facility to allocate time zones for each user and also define the user access group. This would allow controlled access within the defined time zone i.e. 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday, whilst also offering the opportunity to allow access using the exceptional monitoring function, allowing user’s immediate access. This event would then be highlighted as an incident to the system administrator for further investigation.

The software also has a built in event database allowing each timed event/user/incident to be recalled in the form of a report.
