WEEE Compliance Statement

Background

The European Union’s Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive will be implemented in member states during 2006. There are a number of obligations imposed on Cooper BLine Ltd as a supplier of electrical and electronic equipment. Cooper B-Line Ltd’s compliance approach for each of these obligations is provided below.

  1. Product Design
    Cooper B-Line Ltd’s Design for Recycling Standard is used to ensure that the design and production of Cooper B-Line Ltd branded electrical and electronic equipment takes into account the dismantling and recovery of WEEE and its components and materials.
  2. WEEE Marking
    All Cooper B-Line Ltd products that are subject to the WEEE Directive supplied by Cooper B-Line Ltd from 13th August 2005 are compliant with the WEEE marking requirements. Such products are marked with the “crossed out wheelie bin” WEEE symbol shown right in accordance with European Standard EN 50419
  3. Information for Users
    According to the timelines and requirements of European Union member state WEEE legislation, the following user information is provided to customers in English for all Cooper BLine Ltd branded products subject to the WEEE directive.
  4. Registration and Reporting
    Cooper B-Line Ltd will fulfill all legal requirements and register with all applicable authorities, on time, in all relevant countries. Registration and enforcement dates are country dependant. Cooper B-Line Ltd will also ensure that any information required for the calculation of Cooper B-Line Ltd’s producer obligations will be provided as of the date specified in national legislation.
  5. WEEE from users other than private households
    LFor Cooper B-Line Ltd products sold after 13th August 2005, Cooper B-Line Ltd will ensure that the waste resulting from these products will be properly recycled. The cost of recycling described above is included in the product price as standard. The cost of shipping such waste from customer premises to the recycling point is not included in Cooper B-Line Ltd’s standard offer.

    In such cases where the customer wishes to return the goods to Cooper B-Line Ltd for recycling, the customer will be responsible for the cost of shipping the goods back to our facility at;

    United Kingdom Prior to the goods being accepted by Cooper B-Line Ltd for recycling the customer will need to complete a “Hardware Recycling Request” and obtain a “Goods Return Number” from our customer services department on +44(0)1278 785600 or by contacting sales@cooperbline.co.uk
  6. Treatments
    In accordance with Community waste legislation, Cooper B-Line Ltd confirms that treatment and recycling of WEEE done on behalf of Cooper B-Line Ltd, either by a collective scheme or individually, will be carried out in accordance with the requirements of the WEEE Directive, as set out in the implementing legislation of the member states, including requirements respecting special treatment for specified parts and overall recovery rates achieved.
  7. Information to Recyclers
    As required by the WEEE Directive, Cooper B-Line Ltd will provide reuse and treatment information for each type of new EEE put on the market within one year after the equipment is put on the market. Cooper B-Line Ltd will make required information available to reuse centres by the date specified in member state legislation, typically within one year after the new products have been put on the market or sold after 13th August 2005.
