Definitions of Cooper B-Line Products reference the WEEE Directive
Based on the guidance provided in the DTI WEEE REGULATIONS Government
Guidance Notes dated February 2007 (document ref. URN 07/619) and the
EUROPEAN COMMISSION DIRECTORATE-GENERAL ENVIRONMENT Frequently
Asked Questions on Directive2002/96/EC on Waste Electrical and Electronic
Equipment (WEEE), Cooper B-Line Ltd have categorised the following product
groups as being governed by the WEEE Directive.
In general terms Cooper B-Line Ltd’s interpretation of Directive 2002/96/EC is
that a number of product modules we supply fall into either category “3. IT and
telecommunications equipment” or “9. Monitoring and control instruments” (WEEE
Compliance Statement). In such instances we have sought guidance and been
advised that modules that require electricity to power them but that perform a
“dumb function” are excluded from the Directive.
